Owner driver jobs delivering furniture and bulky goods.
DropNPickUp offers self-employed owner driver work delivering furniture, appliances and trade goods across 21 English cities and St Neots. You see the fixed payout for each job before you accept it, you choose the jobs you take, and earnings are paid in weekly payout runs. You need a van (yours, leased, or hired from us), hire-and-reward insurance and goods-in-transit cover of at least £50,000.
What you need
- A full UK driving licence covering the van you drive
- Identity and right to work checks, done when you sign up
- Hire-and-reward motor insurance (or the cover on a van you hire from us)
- Goods-in-transit insurance of at least £50,000
- A van in good order with a valid MOT, checked with photos at sign-up
- A smartphone for the driver app: job offers, navigation and photo proof
The work
Single deliveries
A sofa, a wardrobe, an appliance. Collect from a home, shop or warehouse and deliver to the customer's room of choice.
Two-person jobs
Heavy and awkward items go out with two verified people. Invite a second person as your crew for the job and set their share of the payout.
Multi-drop runs
Several deliveries planned as one route for a retailer or a warehouse, so the day has a shape instead of empty miles.
Day bookings for trade
A kitchen depot or builders merchant books a van and driver for the day. You run their drops from their branch.
How it works
- 1
Sign up and upload your documents
Licence, insurance and vehicle details. Our team checks each one before you can take work.
- 2
See jobs near you
Each job shows the collection and drop areas, the item, the date and the payout. The payout is fixed before you accept.
- 3
Accept, deliver, photograph
First to accept gets the job. Photograph the goods at collection and at the door, and get a name at the drop.
- 4
Get paid weekly
Completed jobs are paid in the weekly payout run after a short holding period, straight to your account.
No van? You still have options
Your own van
The usual route. A long-wheelbase or Luton van takes the widest range of furniture jobs.
A van you hire or lease elsewhere
Fine, as long as the insurance covers hire-and-reward work and goods in transit.
A van from your fleet operator
If you drive for a company in our carrier network, sign up through them and they supply the van.
Hire a van from DropNPickUp
No van yet? Ask for one when you sign up. It's a weekly hire with insurance included, one week paid in advance, and the full terms are in the hire agreement before you sign anything.
Running more than one van with your own drivers? Apply as a carrier partner instead. New to this? Read how to make money with a van.
Owner driver jobs: common questions
How much can an owner driver earn with DropNPickUp?
It depends on how many jobs you take, how far they go and whether they need two people, so we don't publish a headline earnings figure. What we do promise: every job shows its fixed payout before you accept it, you never have to take a job that doesn't pay enough for you, and completed work is paid weekly.
Do I need my own van?
You need a van, but it doesn't have to be yours. You can use your own, one you hire or lease elsewhere, one your fleet operator supplies, or hire one from us on a weekly hire with insurance included. Tell us which when you sign up.
What insurance do owner drivers need?
Hire-and-reward motor insurance, so you're covered to carry other people's goods for payment, and goods-in-transit insurance of at least £50,000. We check both documents before you can take work, and again when they expire.
Am I employed by DropNPickUp?
No. Owner drivers are independent, self-employed contractors. You choose which jobs to take and when to work, you can work for other companies too, and you handle your own tax and National Insurance. The Driver Agreement sets out the rules both sides follow.
Is there a fee to join?
No. Signing up and getting verified is free. If you hire a van from us, that's a separate weekly hire with its own agreement.
Where is the work?
Across 21 cities and their surrounding towns in England, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester, Nottingham, Northampton, Milton Keynes, Cambridge and Peterborough, plus our home base in St Neots. You see jobs near where you are.
I run several vans. Should I sign up as a driver?
No, apply as a carrier partner instead. The carrier network is for companies running more than one vehicle with their own drivers. Single-van owner drivers sign up as a driver.
